Install Papirus Icon Theme On Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

The Papirus Icon theme is one of the most popular icon themes available right now for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Recently, the Papirus Icon theme has been updated with more than 60 new app icons.

Papirus is a free and open-source SVG icon theme for Linux.

In this tutorial post, we will show you the method to install the Papirus icon theme on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.

How To Install Papirus Icon Theme On Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

Papirus icon theme is available in five variants:

  1. ePapirus (This is available for elementary OS and Pantheon Desktop only)
  2. ePapirus Dark (This is available for elementary OS and Pantheon Desktop only)
  3. Papirus Dark
  4. Papirus Light
  5. Papirus

You can install Papirus on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS  using the official PPA. Run the following commands to add PPA and install the Papirus icon theme on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:papirus/papirus
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install papirus-icon-theme

Install Papirus Icon theme on Debian and derivatives

For Debian users, run the following commands to install the Papirus icon theme using PPA:

sudo sh -c "echo 'deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/papirus/papirus/ubuntu focal main' > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/papirus-ppa.list"

sudo apt-get install dirmngr
sudo gpg --no-default-keyring --keyring gnupg-ring:/etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/papirus.gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv E58A9D36647CAE7F
sudo chmod 644 /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/papirus.gpg
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install papirus-icon-theme

Now, after installing the Papirus Icon theme, you need the Gnome tweak tool to change the themes and icons of the Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
