If you are reading this article before the official release then you can easily upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS before the release day with the following command on the terminal.

sudo do-release-upgrade -d
After the upgrade process is complete, restart your system and experience the beauty of the new Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Meanwhile, if you are here on release day or after the release day then you need to wait until the first point release for a visual upgrade prompt in your Ubuntu. 
But you can always go for a forced upgrade and you can do it by going to the Software and Updates and going to the Updates tab.  In the Updates tab, you need to change “notify me of new ubuntu version” to “any new version”. After doing this you will see a prompt for an upgrade on the desktop. Follow the on-screen instructions and continue with the upgrade process to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
