System76 released the Pop OS 22.04 LTS a few days ago. Pop OS 22.04 LTS is the latest stable version from System76 and is based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. In this tutorial post, we are going to show you the step-by-step tutorial on upgrading Pop OS 21.10 to Pop OS 22.04 LTS.

How To Upgrade To Pop OS 22.04 LTS From Pop OS 21.10 [Step by Step]

One of the most important parts of this process is that you can not upgrade from Pop OS 20.04 to Pop OS 22.04 LTS. First, you need to upgrade Pop OS 20.04 to Pop OS 21.10 and then you can upgrade to Pop OS 22.04 LTS.

Do the backup of your important file and run the following command:

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

If you want to upgrade using the GUI method then it’s pretty easy too. You can open Settings and visit OS Upgrade and Recovery tab. You should see that update to Pop OS 22.04 LTS is available. You need to click Download to start the upgrade process to Pop OS 22.04 LTS.

Open a terminal and run the following commands.

sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade

Now, You need to update the recovery partition (This is only applicable for UEFI installs).

pop-upgrade recovery upgrade from-release

Finally, run the following command to upgrade:

pop-upgrade release upgrade
