Ubuntu 23.04 “Lunar Lobster” is released on Thursday, April 20, 2023. Ubuntu 22.10 is at the end of its life in July. So, It will be wise enough to upgrade to Ubuntu 23.04 or you can also opt out for the fresh installation of Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.

How To Upgrade To Ubuntu 23.04 From Ubuntu 22.10?

Before upgrading to the latest version of Ubuntu, you need to back up important files and folders before upgrading Ubuntu.

Method 1:

If you want to upgrade a little earlier than the release day then run the following command in your Ubuntu terminal.

sudo do-release-upgrade -d

After a while, you will be asked to confirm that you wish to proceed with the updates. You need to press ‘y’ to execute the upgrading process.

Method 2:

If you want to upgrade after the official release then you need to install all pending software updates via software central. After completing the updates of the software you will be greeted with a popup box stating the availability of the Ubuntu update. From April 20, Your Ubuntu will present you with an upgrade prompt. You just need to click “upgrade” on the upgrade prompt, follow the on-screen instructions and reboot your system after completing the process.
