Microsoft announced the Visual Studio Online in Microsoft Build, the annual developer conference which kicked off today in Seattle.  The new online editor is based on Microsoft’s free and open source desktop code editor, Visual Studio Code.

Right now the Visual Studio Online is available in private preview mode. It has been reported that online version of the code editor will supports all the extensions which is being used in it’s desktop version. It has also support for Support for IntelliCode, Microsoft’s tool for AI-assisted development.

Meanwhile, You might get confused with the name as Visual Studio Online was Microsoft’s hub for DevOps which was renamed to Azure DevOps.

We need to wait for few days to have a real experience of ‘Visual Studio Online,’ an online code editor for developers.
